Hi Folks! Welcome to RealWorldATC. My name is Tim Weitzel. My friends call me Sir =) Just kidding! I am YOUR Member Services Coordinator. My entire reason for existing, except for my wonderful daughter and wife, is to help you get acquainted with RealWorldATC. I try to make myself available as much as possible but you can always contact me via e-mail. I also have listed my MSN Messenger / Yahoo Messenger address here as well. I try to sit on TeamSpeak as much as possible but e-mail is the quickest way for me to get to you to set up personal help should you need it.
We have developed this part of our website to help each and every one of you get connected to RealWorldATC. We have seperated everything into sections and made it as easy as possible to help you navigate through the various programs that will make your time here as enjoyable as possible. As we progress, we will be adding pictures to describe exactly what we are doing. EVERYONE likes pictures! Although it is typical for all of us to try to do things first and when all else fails, read the instructions, I would highly recommend taking the time to read this. I promise...it'll make your time here a lot more enjoyable and a lot less stressful. Our software is easy to install and operate but it is still important to know what you are doing when you finally get all of this stuff ready to go.
This section was written by our friend Mike McCarthy and he affectionately refers to these pages as the G.O.T.A.--Getting On The Air. We will now turn it over to Mike and use his words. If you need any assistance, we are here to help via e-mail as listed above and on the "Contact Us" page of the website or by TeamSpeak once you get it set up. The FORUMS are another great place to ask a question or get help. Take it away Mike!
This post is known as the GOTA -- the Getting On The Air document. Please read every word of it. Every word was written for a reason. If you skip anything, or if you speed read and don't get the intent of something, you will only be setting yourself up for a later wasting of your time.
Of necessity this is a very long post. It covers, in gory detail, every step you need to perform to get on the air with the RWATC software. I ask that you work all the way through this document, and only this document, before reading any of the application user manuals. Furthermore, I ask that you read it exactly as written and that you do exactly what is asked at each step, no more, no less, without your referring to any other documents. Otherwise, if you ask for help we will not know exactly what you have done.
Below is a Table of Contents. You can either follow it exactly or, if you already have a certain area covered and/or figured out, you can click on the area that you want to read about.
